Whole-family chiropractic care for Kingsbury
About 15 minutes (5.3 mi) from our South Lake Tahoe office
Kingsbury stretches up the Carson Range above Stateline along Kingsbury Grade (NV-207), from Lower Kingsbury near US-50 to the upper end near Heavenly’s Nevada base lodges and Daggett Pass. Pony Express riders followed this same grade in 1860. Today it’s an unincorporated community in Douglas County, Nevada, and for neighbors who live up the grade or work in Stateline, Tahoe Chiropractic Clinic is about 15 minutes away on the California side in South Lake Tahoe.
Life at roughly 7,200 feet keeps you moving, and it can be hard on the body. About 120 inches of snow a year means shoveling and slick steps that can lead to back pain, while ski days off Stagecoach and Boulder lodges and snowshoe loops to Castle Rock on the Tahoe Rim Trail can leave you with knee pain. Dr. Joel Mackes, who loves the mountains and anything snow-related, is passionate about helping patients move better and stay active, and we can help active Kingsbury residents keep moving.
Families get the same whole-family approach. Dr. Emma Freeze, certified in the Webster Technique, has a special interest in prenatal care and pediatric care, and gentle chiropractic adjustments may help with everyday neck pain from the desk or the commute. New patients start with our new patient special. Request your first visit online and plan on about 15 minutes down the grade.
Proudly serving: Upper Kingsbury, Lower Kingsbury, Tahoe Village, Kingsbury Heights, Summit Village, Lake Village at the base of the grade.
Local, family-focused care
Care that fits life in Kingsbury
Kingsbury is an unincorporated community of 2,313 people (2020 census) spread up Kingsbury Grade at around 7,200 feet, and it averages about 120 inches of snow a year. That means plenty of shoveling, icy footing and winter driving on the grade, on top of the work that keeps the South Shore running: hospitality, gaming and lift-operations shifts at the Stateline resorts just down the grade and at Heavenly and The Ridge Tahoe up top, plus many residents in professional and technical jobs. Tahoe Chiropractic Clinic offers chiropractic and whole family wellness care for all of it. From central Kingsbury we're about 5.3 miles and 15 minutes away via Kingsbury Grade and US-50. Homes near the summit take a little longer, and chain controls are common on the grade in winter, so check NDOT at nvroads.com on stormy days.
Recreation starts at the front door here. Heavenly's Stagecoach and Boulder lodges sit off Kingsbury Grade, the Tahoe Rim Trail leaves from the Kingsbury North and Kingsbury South trailheads, and the Kahle Community Center has a gym, weight room, climbing wall and sports leagues. Dr. Joel Mackes loves the outdoors, the mountains and anything snow-related, and he is passionate about helping patients move better and stay active. Dr. Emma Freeze brings a special interest in pregnancy and pediatric chiropractic care, with Webster Technique certification and membership in the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Together they work toward our mission of helping every generation live life to the fullest, from kids at the nearby schools in Zephyr Cove to their parents and grandparents.
What we help with
How we can help Kingsbury residents
Snow-shoveling and icy-step back strain
Kingsbury averages about 120 inches of snow a year, so winter means a lot of shoveling and slick footing. We help with the low-back pain that often follows.
Learn more →Ski, snowboard and trail injuries
Heavenly's Stagecoach and Boulder lodges and the Tahoe Rim Trail are right up the road. Athlete care helps you keep moving between ski days and trail outings.
Learn more →Knee pain from the slopes and the trail
Twisting falls on the mountain and miles on the Castle Rock loop can leave knees sore. We look at how the knee, hip and spine are working together.
Learn more →On-your-feet shift work
Hospitality, gaming and lift-operations jobs just down the grade keep people standing and lifting for long shifts. We help with the aches and strains that come with the job.
Learn more →Neck pain from the desk and the commute
Many Kingsbury residents work in professional and technical fields, and the average commute is about 26 minutes. Screen and driving posture often show up as neck pain.
Learn more →Auto accidents on the grade and US-50
Kingsbury Grade sees hard winter driving and frequent chain controls. After a collision, we check for whiplash and related neck and back injuries.
